Congregation Tifereth Israel of Jackson Heights
Every Saturday morning at 9:30 AM, our Jackson Heights synagogue comes alive with the warmth of Shabbat. Whether you're a longtime member or visiting for the first time, you'll find a welcoming community gathered for traditional Orthodox services followed by a Kiddush lunch where we schmooze and connect over good food.
Our Shabbat morning services blend authentic Orthodox tradition with a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere. You don't need to know Hebrew, follow along perfectly, or have any prior synagogue experience. We welcome Jews of all backgrounds, interfaith families, and anyone curious about experiencing a traditional Shabbat in Queens. Our rabbi and community members are always happy to help you feel comfortable and answer questions.
Services begin at 9:30 AM and run until about 12:30 PM, followed by Kiddush lunch until 1:00 PM. Feel free to arrive anytime - we understand people have different schedules.
Come as you are. Most people dress business casual, but we're more concerned with your presence than your outfit. Men traditionally wear a kippah (head covering) - we have them available if you need one.
Not at all. Our siddur (prayer book) has English translations, and you can follow along at your own pace. Many of our regular attendees are still learning.
Absolutely! Children are always welcome. The sounds of kids during services remind us why we're here. We have a children's area and families often step out as needed.
Yes. We welcome interfaith families and provide a supportive environment for Jewish engagement and education. Everyone at our Kiddush table is part of our community.
