What time are Shabbat services at Congregation Tifereth Israel?

Shabbat services are every Saturday at 9:30 AM, followed by Kiddush lunch. All are welcome.

Do you have Hebrew School in Jackson Heights?

Yes, we offer Hebrew School for ages 5-13, from early childhood education through Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation.

Are Jewish, non-Jewish, and mixed families welcome at your synagogue?

Absolutely. We welcome Jewish, non-Jewish, and mixed families and provide a supportive environment for Jewish education and community connection.

We are located at 31-36 88th Street in Jackson Heights, New York. Easily accessible by subway and bus.

Shabbat Services

What time are services?

Saturdays at 9:30 AM, followed by Kiddush lunch until 1 PM.

What should I wear?

Business casual is perfect.

Do I need to know Hebrew?

Not at all. Prayers are led in Hebrew, but we provide translated prayer books and everything is explained in English. We also have transliterated songbooks to follow along.

What type of services?

Traditional Orthodox services in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Do I need to be observant to join?

Not at all. Our community includes all levels of Jewish observance and knowledge. We're all here to learn and grow together.

What else happens during services?

The weekly Torah portion is explained in English, prayers for the sick are announced, and the Rabbi delivers a sermon around 11 AM.

Is there a cost?

Services are free. Donations appreciated but never expected.

What happens at Kiddush?

Traditional lunch—perfect time to meet the community.

Can I bring my kids?

Absolutely! We're family-friendly.

My spouse isn't Jewish; can we join?

Absolutely! We regularly have Jewish, non-Jewish, and mixed families for services—everyone feels at home here.

What's your political leaning?

We stay apolitical. All are welcome and received with courtesy and respect, regardless of race, background, or political affiliation.

Do I need to RSVP?

No RSVP needed, just come! But feel free to let us know below.

What other days do you have services?

High Holidays, Sukkot, Shavuot, Passover, Purim, and Tisha B'Av. During the summer we have Sunday brunches. Contact us for details.

We don't do conversions, but you're welcome to reach out and we'll guide you to the right place.

Yes. One-on-one preparation, and we can host it too.
